With over 7,000 pubs in London alone, finding a pub is pretty easy. But how can you tell if it is a good pub and serves real ale? This is a hard question to answer even if you live in London. But if you are visiting this great city then a nice night at the pub can turn out be a nightmare – just because you picked the wrong pub.
It is the aim of the London Pub Crawl Company to seek out all those great pubs in London that as a traveller you are unlikely to find. Our boutique guided tours will take you to the more traditional and some out-of-the-way backstreet pubs that are generally only frequented by locals. Our iPhone app for the best pubs in London will guide you to 160 of London’s finest pubs.
Our chosen pubs will serve real ales and should not have a television blaring away in the corner (the majority of London pubs do have a TV and we cannot guarantee the landlord won’t turn it on!). A fruit machine (game or gambling device) may be seen when we feel the pub has enough going for it to make them tolerable (although we think they are very undesirable).
This blog entry further outlines why we decided to add another pub company to the internet. And, we live by this fine Doctors’ words:
“There is nothing which has yet been contrived by man, by which so much happiness is produced as by a good tavern or inn” – Dr. Samuel Johnson (1709-1784)
Who are the founders that trek London for the best old English pubs?
Grew up in Melbourne, Australia and discovered a love for ale when he moved to London in 2007. Always finding great pubs is a hobby and they are useful for giving directions too.
Born in Kent but grew up in South London, Jonno has lived and worked in London and knows some of the finest pubs there are. Jonno loves travelling and trying different beers around the world. But you just can’t beat a good English pint served in an old pub.
