Well, actually it is all beer, but skittles are a thing of the past (as I am not referring to those packets of little sweets).
When Troy and I discussed the idea of creating a pub website we had no idea where it would take us, well apart from the pub of course, as that was the whole point!
Having undertaken extensive research and mapping it is now time to hit the streets and physically visit the pubs we feel warrant inclusion on our site. Often a cursory glance inside is all that is needed to have the pub stricken from our list. But then I duck into a pub that just evokes a great feeling and that “wow” sensation and know that this one has to be on the list.
Then the beer must be sampled to make sure it is kept well. Rarely have we had a bad pint (but check out my worst pub experience). Although this did happen in the Prince Albert in Camden (163 Royal College Street
London, NW1 0SG). The staff quickly responded to my concern that the beer was not quite right. With a smile and an apology they replaced the offending fluid. The beer was then immediately removed from sale.
Bad beer does happen and when staff act like they do in the Prince Albert, it shows you are in a great pub. When it goes unnoticed, that is a poor reflection on the training of the staff and sometimes, some of the patrons. When it is allowed to continue, well that’s a bad reflection on the pub. Just get out of there.
